NATIONAL CHAMPIONS FOR 2023

On January 9th, 2024 Michigan won the National Championship beating the Washington Huskies 34-13. Despite the recruiting (hamburger) incident, sign -stealing scandal, and suspensions of Coach Harbaugh this team fulfilled its destiny. Much like the 1997 team, defense wins championships. Bo knew it and so do we. While JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum, and Roman Wilson helped propel the offense into winning situations, it was ultimately the defense that kept power house teams at bay. Winning the line of scrimmage matters and Michigan dominated in every game. Washington won the award for best offensive line play, but Michigan arguably wins on both sides of the ball.

For the millions of Michigan fans around the world, I am proud to count myself part of your family. We are in this journey together. Michigan vs Everybody!

Wolverines Made Us Proud

This was a great year. I always say beating Ohio is the most important thing of all and everything after that is gravy. But...I am reminding myself that I am not getting any younger, and winning a National Championship is no simple thing as this was Michigan's first time since 1997. Overcoming Alabama was a huge feat and frankly, I wasn't so sure about the outcome. But Blake Corum had other ideas and the defense did their part in the end. Washington had a very strong quarterback and receiving group. Pressure from the defense ultimately won the day.

I have moved even farther away to Duck and Beaver country in Salem, Oregon and wish I was in Ann Arbor, but life is good and we will make sure the great Northwest gets to know what a real team is all about. Sorry Beavers and Ducks, you can't hang with a Wolverine!

While you are here, I thought I would provide a different quote from my book.

There comes a time in everyone's life when they don't feel like doing anything. Call it boredom, fatigue, laziness, whatever suits you, but it can be a reality. You wake up, and for whatever reason, you dread going to practice. You tell your Mother that you honestly don't feel up to it and in her wisdom, she assures you it is perfectly okay to miss practice once in a while; it is normal to take a break. In fact, why not just spend some quality time with me? We can bake something together or maybe go to the store you like and get some pizza later? I am sure the team will not suffer without you for just one day. Sure Mom, I can easily fall into this trap of protectionism and give up on my teammates. Maybe I can even risk starting by missing practice. Perhaps, I can pick out a dress with you. So what is a commitment, taking the easy way out with Mom or picking myself off the ground? Yes, I will go to practice even if it kills me.

This chapter is titled Lack of Motivation. There is so much more. Enjoy!
